Four days of grad school are under my belt. That equals eight class sessions, almost 30% through the first semester. I handed in my first paper today and it’s time to start research for the next one due October 8th. Before I know it, Christmas will be here and Semester #1 at Marywood University School of Social Work will be history.
What do I love about this new adventure?
- Access to the library database for scholarly research, even from the convenience of my desk at home.
- Classmates working in the field. I’m learning terminology of the industry and insider views of the daily grind.
- One classmate is a school administrator. He’ll be experiencing my passion about school lunches, among other things.
- Most classmates are young career people who are too busy to take care of themselves. They’ll experience my passion for body awareness and pursuing health.
- One of my profs has already helped me navigate the waters of grad school, helping me find resources, set goals, and prepare for the licensing exam.
Today I ate lunch with Lorrie to begin working on a presentation due October 29th. While we brainstormed some ideas, we ate our lunches in the deserted student lounge. She had a sandwich, I had a salad and some chicken. She asked me questions about my choice of food and why I was protecting my back with a heating pad, a rolling carry-on, and riding the elevator instead of climbing stairs. Here’s another opportunity for me to tell my story and share my passion… and my card. Now she can find this blog to check out recipe ideas.
Ka-ching!
This is why I’m here. Not just to do presentations and take tests. Nope. It’s about spending time with people. Networking. Swapping ideas.
So I’m doing it. I’m making my dream come true. And please don’t think I’ve given up on this blog. I won’t have time for weekly entries but I hope to share some great stuff with you as I do research for papers. Check in with me now and then… good stuff is coming!
